Critical Areas - Windows

windows grouped

Windows tend to have the most problems in a home. This is because the concept behind windows (do not let water past the window pane) and the concept behind claddings (do not let water past anything!) differ. There are multiple points at the window that might allow moisture into the cladding system, but not into the interior wall of the structure.

Inspecting a window is simple and does not require much time. Appropriate sealant should be applied to all joints of the window itself, and a proper joint should be installed around the window penetration in the cladding.

We check the frame for any signs of damage, around the window/cladding interface for proper sealant joint, scan for moisture underneath the window, and probe underneath the window corners, if appropriate for the specific cladding.
